先学两个新单词，Jumpstart和Kickstart：
| Jumpstart /dmpstɑt/ verb to start the engine of (a car) by connecting it to another engine with jump leads or (of a car) to start in this way (用跳接线外接电池启动汽车的过程) |
| Kickstart /kkstɑt/ verb (transitive) to start (a motorcycle engine) by means of a pedal that is kicked downwards (脚踩踏板启动摩托车的过程) |
一台新计算机，需要安装OS和APP后才能运行。为了安装自动化，SUN发明了Jumpstart工具，完成Solaris系统的自动安装和配置[1]。受其启发，RedHat在随后的Linux里也开发了相应的Kickstart概念[2]，并且采用Cobbler为其工具，实现自动化配置过程。
微软在Windows里也有类似的工具SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)[3]。
